Coach George has been involved with swimming most of his life and first joined Orcas as a Div 2 swimmer in the 2007/08 season. George has competed with several swim clubs such as Island Swimming, UVic Vikes as well as in masters swim meets. George is very experienced working in public recreation as a lifeguard/swim instructor and also has a variety of swim coaching experience, including as previously being the head coach of Orcas for the 2025 summer season.
George has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, is a certified personal trainer and currently works full time as a fitness instructor for the Canadian Armed Forces. Aside from swimming, George is passionate about outdoor rock climbing, hiking, trail running and weightlifting.
George’s coaching philosophy is based on a combination of his experiences, exercise education and vision for the club. He hopes to help the Orcas become the most awesome summer swim club that it can be.
