Qualifying for Regionals
Individual events: To be eligible to swim an individual event at regionals, you must complete that exact event at one of the BCSSA club meets during that season. For example, if you swim the 100M IM (and aren't disqualified) at the Comox meet in Summer 2026, then you are eligible to swim the 100M IM at Regionals in Summer 2026. It does not matter how quickly you swam at the club meet. Swimmers may participate in a maximum of 4 individual events at regionals.
Relays: Coaches will determine the make up of relays in accordance with the Relay Policy. Swimmers may participate in a maximum of 2 relay events at regionals.
Qualifying for Provincials
There are several ways for swimmers to qualify for Provincials:
1) Swim faster than the provincial qualifying time (PQT) at a regional meet
2) Place in the top 3 swimmers in an "A" final at regions, for an individual event (or top 2 for a relay)
3) Swimmers finishing in the top 8 in "A" finals at regionals may be eligible to swim in a wild card spot. These spots are used to fill a provincial heat that would otherwise have an empty lane. They are offered to swimmers that have not otherwise qualified for provincials, based on ascending times. Please refer to the BCSSA Provincial meet package.
